The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) is reporting 740 new cases of COVID-19.

The latest report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 524,629. With the confirmation of 23 additional deaths, 10,387 Mississippians have passed away from the virus.

During an address to the nation on Tuesday, President Joe Biden announced new vaccination and testing sites, as well as the purchase of 500 million rapid COVID-19 tests that will be available to the public in January through a new website. He also instructed defense secretary Lloyd Austin to get 1,000 military medical professionals ready to help at overwhelmed hospitals.

“I know you’re tired, really, and I know you’re frustrated,” Biden said while encouraging unvaccinated Americans to get vaccinated, “We all want this to be over, but we’re still in it.”
