DESOTO COUNTY, Miss. – A Horn Lake husband and wife, who pled guilty Thursday, could be in prison for the rest of their lives for the death of their 11-year-old son.
Jack and Amanda Raines said they were responsible for the second degree murder of Tyler Raines. At the time of his February 2014 death, Tyler weighed only 56 pounds. Prosecutors said the abuse the boy suffered was the worst they had ever seen.
Jack Raines is Tyler’s biological father; and Amanda Raines is his step-mother. Several other children, who were living at their home, were removed and put in protective custody.
The couple, who could celebrate the rest of their future marriage anniversaries in separate prisons, will be sentenced later.
