A new bench in honor of Lisa Marie Presley has been placed at the birthplace of her rock ‘n’ roll father in Tupelo.
The bench dedicated to Lisa Marie, who was the only daughter of Elvis Presley, was unveiled by the Tupelo Elvis Fan Club and the Elvis Birthplace last week. It sits next to another bench, one in honor of Elvis, next to a lake called “Reflections” on the birthplace’s grounds.
“The board would like to thank the Elvis Presley Fan Club of Tupelo for all that you do. I want to say – as Elvis would say – to you, ‘Thank you. Thank you very much,’” Elvis Presley Memorial Foundation Chairman Henry Dodge said. “It’s with hope that here, Elvis and Lisa Marie’s kindred spirits can find rest and peace where it all started in east Tupelo, Mississippi.”
Lisa Marie, who passed away on Jan. 12 following a cardiac arrest, spent her childhood in Los Angeles and Memphis while visiting family friends in Tupelo. The singer-songwriter was 54 at the time of her death.
Like all benches at the Elvis Birthplace, the newest addition was built by inmates at Parchman.
