VICTORIA, Miss.–Maybe it was fright or maybe it was quick thinking. Whatever motivated the tellers and employees at the Citizens Bank of Byhalia to leave when threatened with a bomb Thursday afternoon left the would-be robber all by himself in the bank, and ready for the police to take down when they got there.
Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson told media that Joseph Hammer went into the bank around 2 Thursday afternoon and told the tellers he had a bomb and a gun and wanted the cash.
Instead of cash, they made a dash. Everyone took off and Hammer, 35, stood there in the lobby with no bargaining power.
When deputies got there he went quietly.
