Police are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Mississippi Department of Corrections early Wednesday morning.
The Meridian Police Department released that officers were assisting MDOC in finding 28-year-old Ryan Young, who was serving 40 years for burglary of a vehicle, burglary of a residence, grand larceny, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in Claiborne County.
This is Young’s second successful escape from the state penitentiary at Parchman after being on the run for several days in September of 2017. Young had only served two years of his sentence at the time of his initial escape.
Six years later, Young has escaped from MDOC once again, with the inmate being last seen wearing a yellow jumpsuit while being transported for a court appearance. He is described as being 5’9″ in height and weighing around 190 pounds.
A drone has been used to aid in the search, which has spanned over the area of 7th Street and 35th Avenue in Meridian. A second inmate had been accompanying Young, but was taken into custody shortly after escaping.
