Authorities are investigating after a school bus carrying multiple children on the Mississippi Gulf Coast went off-road and got stuck in a ditch.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident took place Monday morning around 8:00 on Coleman Road near the Gulfport Sam’s Club just off Highway 49.

Approximately 18 children were aboard the vehicle marked School Bus 650. As things stand, no major injuries have been reported. Some children were tended to by medical professionals for minor injuries.  Pupils previously on the bus have been picked up by their parents.

While specific details remain slim, police are not charging the driver, who is not injured, with anything at this time. The particular cause of the accident is unknown.
