HATTIESBURG, Miss.- Former Southern Miss graduate and Golden Eagle quarterback Austion Davis will be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns against The Bengals on Sunday.
Davis will replace Johnny Manziel for the game. Manziel will serve as a back up according the the teams release.
Davis was first debuted on the team when Josh McCown was hurt on Monday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. The Browns lost to the Ravens that day.
Davis, who was with the St. Louis Rams last season had eight starts and 10 overall appearances. He completed 180-of-284 passes for 2,001 yards. He also had a count of 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions for the season.
Davis played for the Golden Eagles from 2008-2011.
