FLORA, MISS– Fred’s Pharmacy in Flora is not your typical store anymore. It’s the home of the first true one-stop shop for your health in the state.
Fred’s Pharmacy in Flora is the first pharmacy in the state to have an onsite walk-in TelehealthOne clinic. This means you can see a doctor for a simple medical exam via webcam, then get your prescription filled all in one place.
Mississippi currently leads the nation in telemedical development. Here’s how it works, according to TeleHealthOne Chief Nursing Officer Heather Mangum:
Mangum says this clinic and others like it will bridge the gap between patients and their physicians in Mississippi.
The goal of telemedicine is to bring the patient and doctor together, not to replace that doctor visit with a simple online video chat. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the clinic, Governor Bryant stated the importance of growing that connection between the patient and the doctor as well as providing medical opportunities for those in rural Mississippi who may not can make the trip to see the doctor:
There are over 300 Fred’s Pharmacy locations across the state of Mississippi, and Governor Bryant says that it is his goal to see a telehealth clinic in those stores.
