TIPPAH COUNTY, Miss. — Always be cautions when driving a four wheeler. That may be the lesson learned after two Mississippians died in ATV wrecks over the weekend.
In Tippah County former Constable, 93-year-old Leroy Derrick was trying to cross Highway 4 on his ATV Sunday when he was struck dead by an SUV.
Sunday night 16-year-old Lee Thomas of Smithville lost control of his wheeler and went down an embankment a mile west of the Alabama line. He died from a head injury.
In Mississippi it is required by law to wear a helmet if you get behind the handles of an ATV.
