Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch is encouraging consumers to check whether they are eligible to receive compensation in a $39.1 million lawsuit settlement that alleged pharmaceutical companies were deceiving customers.
Fitch’s office joined 50 other U.S. states and territories in the suit against generic drug manufacturer Apotex over a conspiracy to inflate prices and limit competition in the market.

“Many Americans rely on generic drugs to afford important and even life-saving care. Our investigation found that consumers were being deceived and paying artificially high prices,” Fitch said. “My office is committed to holding these companies accountable and taking action to lower drug costs. We encourage any Mississippian who thinks they may be eligible to register today.”
Fitch announced the settlement in principle with Apotex in 2024, along with a $10 million settlement with Heritage Pharmaceuticals. The settlement was conditional based on the signatures of all the states and territories involved, which were obtained.
If you purchased a generic prescription drug listed here between May 2009 and December 2019, you could be eligible for settlement compensation. You can also check your eligibility by calling 1-866-290-0182, emailing [email protected], or clicking here.
