MADISON, Miss.–Popping off several shots at Ridgeland Police and hitting their patrol cars with bullets is what led to a carjacker being shot by police in Madison Sunday night. The chase started when the man pulled a gun and stole someone’s car at the Kangaroo on Hwy. 51 in Madison.
Police and MAdison County deputies chased the Mercedes SUV south. The man rammed a Ridgeland Police car before he stopped at Mac’s Grocery.
There were people inside and they were kept there while police chased the man around back. That’s when he started shooting.
That’s when officers shot him.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case, since it is an officer-involved shooting.
