An Arkansas man has been sentenced to serve over a year in federal prison after informing law enforcement that he was planning to commit a mass shooting at Natchez High School.
On Wednesday, 33-year-old Kenneth Allen Moody was given a sentence of 18 months by U.S. Attorney Brandon Brown after being charged by a federal grand jury with one count of interstate communication of a threat in August 2023.
Moody was accused of making a phone call to the Vidalia Police Department in Louisiana in July 2022 stating that he was going to commit a mass shooting at the Natchez school.
During the phone call, Moody told police that he wanted to turn himself in before he went through with the shooting, which he had been planning for months prior. Moody also said that he had already loaded several automatic weapons in preparation for the incident.
According to law enforcement, the call was traced back to a device belonging to Moody located in Hot Springs, Arkansas. At the time, Moody was living in the Vidalia area.
The case was investigated by Federal Bureau of Investigation and Vidalia Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tennille M. Gilreath.
