JACKSON, Miss.- One more confirmed case of West Nile virus in Mississippi. The state’s total is now at 38 for the year.
The Mississippi State Department of Health has confirmed Monday that the new case was located in Hinds County. That puts the total for Hinds County cases for the year at 11.
Other counties that have been effected have been: Ranking with eight cases, Madison with five, two in Forest, Simpson, and Yazoo. One in each of Adams, Attala, Copiah, Covington, Lauderdale, Mation, Montgomery and Washington.
A death has been confirmed previously in Attala County
Last year Mississippi totaled with 43 cases of West Nile and seven deaths.
