The Amiable Arts Foundation (AAF) announced plans for its inaugural “Dancing for the Stars” fundraiser. The evening event, promising to be electrifying, will feature several forms of entertainment and is dedicated to inspiring young artists in under-resourced communities.
Taking place on April 5 at 6 p.m. at Union Station in Downtown Jackson, the event will unite local celebrities, community leaders, and talented dancers for an ostentatious showcase — all in support of art education and community development.
Among the participants will be Mississippi State Department of Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Justin Turner and wife Alicia Turner, Aikisha Colon of TV show Belle Collective and husband Willie Colon, and state Rep. Fabian Nelson. Comedian Rita Brent, a Mississippian who has seen international success, will be the special guest judge.
Aligning with AAF’s mission to cultivate artistic talent and provide meaningful opportunities for aspiring performers, proceeds from the event will benefit vital programs such as music, dance, voice training, and access to production equipment, empowering young talent to explore their creative passions.
“The arts have the power to transform lives and uplift communities,” AAF Founder & CEO Amia Edwards said. “Through ‘Dancing for the Stars,’ we aim to bring that magic to underserved youth, providing them with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. Join us, celebrity dancers and judges, and our sponsors: Volunteer Mississippi, Sylvan Learning Center, and BankPlus – in celebrating the arts and investing in the future of our youth. Together, we can make a difference!”
Guests will be able to enjoy the dynamic performances alongside exclusive meet-and-greet opportunities with the dancers while raising money for the cause at hand. For tickets, sponsorship opportunities, and more information, visit dancingforthestars.org or contact Edwards at (601) 941-8039
