American Idol top two, both from Mississippi

JACKSON, Miss.- American Idol is down to the top two and both contestants are from Mississippi.

That means this years winner will definitely be from the Magnolia state.

La’Porsha Renae from McComb and Trent Harmon from Amory have made it to the final round of the hit singing show.

Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. they will participate in a two hour long finale where one of them will be named the next American Idol.

Judges continue to say what a close race this has become, possibly the closest in Idol history.

In last weeks show where they beat out Texan Dalton Rapattoni.  Harmon sang a song co-written by Idol judge Keith Urban called “Falling,” while Renae revealed her struggle as a domestic abuse survivor in the song “Battles”

Later in the show Harmon sang Rod Stewart’s “If you don’t know me by now,” and Renae chose Luther Vandross “A House Is Not a Home.”

Wrapping up the night Harmon chose Sia’s song “Chandelier” to finish up. Renae sang “Diamonds” by Rihanna.
