Coming off a case in Corinth where more than two dozen “severely malnourished” dogs were found at a local home, one of the two people allegedly behind the animal abuse has been fired from his job with the city.
Jonathan Hurst was initially suspended from his position with the sewage department following his arrest on July 28. On Tuesday, the official decision was made to fire Hurst, per a report from WTVA.
Hurst and his fiancé, Sondra Bullard, were taken into custody and charged in the mass animal cruelty case. According to law enforcement, they arrived at Hurst’s home – described as a “hell house” – on Pleasant Grove Road and discovered eight unhealthy dogs outside the property and at least 20 canines inside the home. One dog was found dead.
Both Hurst and Bullard are facing 27 counts of animal cruelty, which could mean up to 13.5 years in prison and more than $27,000 in fines.
