Alcorn State has altered its plan and will now begin the fall semester online.
The university had planned on bringing students back to campus and beginning in-person classes on August 17th, according to a revised schedule released back in June. As the COVID-19 pandemic continued to unfold, a petition was signed by over 12,000 members of the university community urging administrators to move to an online learning model.
Monday, Alcorn State announced a new schedule with in-person classes now set to begin on September 9th with the first three weeks of the semester taking place entirely online. Beginning on the 15th, the university will phase-in the return of residential students over several weekends.
When in-person instruction does start, a news release states that courses will be conducted with reduced class sizes and will follow the guidelines and protocols outlined in the university’s safe return to campus plan.
