The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) announced its football postseason honors earlier this week with multiple Mississippian players finding their way on the all-conference team.
While it was not the representation the state had last season when Mississippi schools swept every major award while filling most slots on the All-SWAC teams, 10 players were recognized by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors for their play in 2023.
- RB Jarveon Howard, Alcorn State (first team)
- OL Deontae Graham, Jackson State (first team)
- WR Monterio Hunt, Alcorn State (first team)
- DL Malachi Bailey, Alcorn State (first team)
- QB Aaron Allen, Alcorn State (second team)
- OL Evan Henry, Jackson State (second team)
- TE D.J. Stevens, Jackson State (second team)
- LB Isaac Peppers, Jackson State (second team)
- DB Keenan Leachman, Alcorn State (second team)
- P Matt Noll, Jackson State (second team)
Mississippi Valley State did not have any players selected for the All-SWAC teams after a 1-10 campaign. Jackson State and Alcorn State both finished the season at 7-4. The full list of postseason honors can be found here.
