As National Police Week continues, Mississippi officers continued to be honored for their dedication to the protection of Mississippians.

During a ceremony at the Mississippi Trade Mart, Special Agent Tim Powell from the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor (OSA) received the “Top Cop” award.

Powell first joined the OSA team in the County Division back in 2003. In 2015, he transferred to the Investigative Division and graduated from the North Mississippi Law Enforcement Academy.

In the three years has been with the Investigations Division, Agent Powell has been instrumental in serving over $580,000 in demands. A news release also stated that Powell recently assisted in the recovery of over 75 illegally obtained guns that were purchased with public money in Ecru.

State Auditor Stacey Pickering, who presented at the annual awards ceremony, commended Powell for his hard work.

“Tim is an incredible asset to the Auditor’s Office and has proven himself to be indispensable in his past and current investigative work. I am grateful for his service to OSA and the service of all other law enforcement officers in our state.”

Agent Powell has excelled in his short tenure with the OSA Investigative Division and is respected by his peer agents and command staff for aggressive pursuit of public corruption.
