JACKSON, Miss. – A light fixture igniting stacks of hay was said to be the cause of last Thursday’s fire at the Agriculture and Forestry Museum according to investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The fire started in the barn on the upper level and spread, destroying two other buildings. Commissioner Mike Chaney in a press release said no fire code violations were broke, and that the fire was ruled an accident.
The cost of the damage caused by the fire was estimated to be $2.5 million.
