Starkville, Miss– Chicken, forestry, and soybeans all made Mississippi an estimated seven billion dollars in 2014.
For the third year in a row, Mississippi agriculture numbers are up. With egg values up nearly ten percent, poultry was the number one source of agricultural income for Mississippi in 2014. The experts are estimating that poultry brought in over three billion dollars.
Forestry was Mississippi’s second commodity, seeing a nearly fourteen percent increase from 2013. Lastly was soybeans, estimated at a value of just over a billion, there were two-hundred-thousand more acres of soybeans this year.
Despite prices falling, this is the third year that Mississippi has seen increase in its agriculture business.
