JACKSON, Miss.- The Mississippi Department of Education and Mississippi Teacher Center have announced the individuals selected as the 2016 Mississippi Administrator of the Year and 2016 Mississippi Teacher of the Year.
Corlis Curry, principal of Lawhon Elementary School in Tupelo was announced as the administrator of the year. For teacher of the year Jodi McKenzie, a 10th grade English teacher at Gautier High School in the Pascagoula-Gautier School District.
The selections come after each school district nominates a candidate for each award, then through an intensive selection process four district winners are chosen. After that one person wins the title.
The Mississippi Administrator of the Year program awards their selection with a $5,000 stipend and allows the individual to share expertise through presentations and activities across the state.
