A man from Indiana charged with sex crimes against children was captured in Mississippi, according to law enforcement.
Deputies with the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office were contacted by the FBI about a fugitive wanted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana, who was believed to be in the area. On Tuesday, a join effort by law enforcement resulted in accused rapist Yonson Meza Argueta being captured in Picayune.

Argueta was previously charged with one count of rape, five counts of molestation of a child, and one count of dissemination of child pornography.
“This arrest is a testament to the power of interagency cooperation in pursuit of justice,” a press release noted. “The Forrest County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere thanks to all agencies involved for their dedication and assistance in taking a dangerous individual off the streets.”
According to the release, investigators believe Argueta was attempting to reach the southern border and cross into Mexico to avoid being arrested.
In addition to the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office, the Picayune Police Department, Pearl River County Sheriff’s office, St. Tammany (LA) Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI assisted with the fugitive’s capture.
