Mississippi’s leading workforce development agency has appointed a new leader to help meet industry needs.
Blaise King, who most recently served as the director of Career and Technical Education and Career Academies for Madison County Schools, has been tabbed by AccelerateMS as the new director of workforce innovation. In this role, he will be tasked with launching initiatives to develop strategies to boost Mississippi’s labor force while simultaneously keeping talented folks in the state.
King will collaborate with statewide partners in this role to bridge a gap between education, training, and industry needs, ensuring workforce programs meet evolving employer demands. He will also enhance communication strategies to improve the flow of critical information throughout Mississippi’s workforce system.
With over 15 years of experience in education, King previously held leadership roles as a principal and assistant principal and began his career as an instructor and baseball coach at several schools in Rankin County and Belhaven University.
“Blaise brings a wealth of experience at the intersection of education and workforce development,” Dr. Courtney Taylor, executive director of AccelerateMS, said. “His leadership will be pivotal as we address the state’s dynamic workforce needs.”
King is the President of the Mississippi Association for Career & Technical Education and a National Career Academy Coalition Fellow. He holds an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University, a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from Mississippi College, and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration from Belhaven University.
