Everyone should be buckling up when they get into a vehicle, no matter where you sit.
That’s the message from Mississippi Highway Patrol as they travel the state with their rollover simulator.
The machine shows you what it looks like when a rollover crash happens at 40 miles per hour. Just 40 MPH:
MHP says vehicles usually crash at speeds higher than 70MPH, and if you’re ejected from the car at that rate of speed, you’re likely not to survive.
Buckling up isn’t just for people in the front seat either. If you are riding in the back seat, you should click it too, otherwise you become a human projectile and could kill the people in the front seat.
Bottom line: buckle up, no matter where in the car you’re sitting.
