JACKSON, Miss. – Some of your favorite train rides could be coming to an end.
Amtrak and other rail road transportation services were recently given two years to upgrade the safety features on their trains.
Ed Hamberger is CEO of the American Association of Railroads and says ”commuter railroads around the country are going to have to suspend or have major cut backs and disruption of service on January first.”
Hamberger continued saying that the railroad industry needs a deadline extension in order to get the job done.
So far Amtrak has spent six billion dollars upgrading their train cars.
How it will effect Mississippi on January first, is not yet know.
