BILOXI, Miss. – They’re stopping some of the shrimping in Mississippi.
The states Department of Marine Resources says, starting Thursday at 6 a.m., it will temporarily close shrimping waters north of the Mississippi Intracoastal Waterway.
They say it will remain closed until the shrimp count has reached the legal requirement of 68 per pound.
Shrimpers had been complaining about the small size of the shrimp and that shrimping season may have started too early.
All other Mississippi waters will remain open.
