Businessman Gets Jail Time For Not Keeping His Word

Natchez, Miss. – A Natchez man has been sentenced to five years in prison for ripping off some grieving customers of Creek Monuments.

Dwight Gibson, the owner of business, admitted he took money from five families for cemetery monuments that he never delivered.  Gibson had been charged with five counts of felony false pretense.  He was sentenced Thursday

He had already paid back the families, so there was no need for the judge to require restitution.  But he did order Gibson to repay nearly $1,200 for a different claim that the state attorney general’s office brought to the attention of the court.
