TUNICA, Miss. — Away from the neon lights of Beal Street, in the shadow of southern style Vegas action, the Hollywood Café gets its stop on the Mississippi blues trail at its current site in Tunica and its original location in Hollywood, Mississippi.
While Pianist Muriel Wilkins performed at the café place for years, the site also served as a venue for legendary bluesman Son House, who performed at both Hollywood Cafe locations when they were just plantation commissaries. The venues also saw the likes of Robert Johnson, Howling Wolf, and BB King through the doors.
The Hollywood Café still has musical acts every weekend, and they still have the same fried pickles they have had for 40 years.
