JACKSON, Miss. – The dispute over whether you will help Mississippi Power Co. pay for its’ new Kemper County coal plant likely won’t be settled until late summer.
The Mississippi Public Service Commission agreed Thursday to delay a May 19 hearing on the stalemate at the request of Mississippi Power until at least August. Company executives want to discuss a settlement of key issues–whether they spent prudently and approval of their proposal to recover costs through electricity rate hikes. Regulators have argued that some spending should not be passed on to customers, and instead should be expenses paid for by Mississippi Power.
