MADISON COUNTY, Miss. – Flooding in Mississippi has been prolonged due to overnight rains. Madison County is still wadding in the waters. Roads are flooded from the north end to the south end of the county according to Madison County Emergency Management Director Butch Hammock.
“We’ve got barricades up. We’ve got law enforcement officers standing by. If you see a road that is blocked or barricaded, do not travel down that road,” said Hammock.
More rains are expected Monday afternoon, about 1 to 3 inches, so flooding may get worse.
The Pearl River and the Big Black River are both still flooded. Counties that are currently under a flash flood warning include: Hinds, Issaquena, Leake, Madison, Rankin, Scott, Sharkey, Warren, and Yazoo.
