MOSS POINT, Miss.- The first Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) graduates in Moss Point were recognized at Escatawpa Upper Elementary School Thursday. 150 students were given a certificate for successfully completing the drug and alcohol abuse prevention program.
This program is intended to prevent drug and alcohol abuse. According to WLOX, officials believe these children, who attended sessions for ten weeks, are at the right age to start learning about the dangers and consequences of substance abuse.
Police said they launched D.A.R.E. in two schools after receiving a $270,000 grant from the Department of Public Safety.
D.A.R.E. is one of many programs Moss Point police are using to prevent youths from committing crime.
