GUNTOWN, Miss. – The chairman of the Mississippi Republican Party wants to know why State Senator Chris McDaniel, R- Ellisville, is listed as a keynote speaker at a festival where a vendor will sell “white pride” merchandise.
The Firearm Freedom Day/Tea Party Music Fest will be held in Guntown on May 17. Pace Confederate Depot, which sells Confederate, Tea Party and White Pride merchandise, is listed as a vender.
State GOP Chair Joe Nosef has encouraged McDaniel, who is challenging incumbent U.S. Senator Thad Cochran in the Republican primary, to quickly clarify his position on the matter. “Running for the United States Senate is a very important thing,” Nosef told NBC News. “And as a party we need to always be careful and focused and serious about what our views are and what our interests are.”
A spokesperson for McDaniel’s campaign said McDaniel never agreed to attend the festival and will not do so.
