JACKSON, Miss.–Wind, rain, hail and tornadoes are all possible Thursday evening through Friday in Mississippi. A squall line was expected to form and move across the state, from north to south, bringing the severe weather threat.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Phil Baker said he expects “the big show” later on in the evening.
“We do expect some isolated thunderstorms this afternoon. Those will be limited in coverage,” he said.
He said the tornado threat will be higher north of Mississippi, but there is still the possibility that you could get a few twisters, so keep your weather radio on.
“As far as the tornado potential specifically, I’d say probably the northwest Mississippi Delta is gonna have the high chance.”
He said he expects the main threat to be damaging winds.
The severe weather moves out Friday. Saturday is expected to be a bit cooler, with rain coming back Sunday.
