JACKSON, Miss.–Whether you’re headed to the Don’t Be Cruel Barbecue Duel, one of the St. Patty’s Day parades, or to the woods for the first day of spring turkey season, you need to know that rain is in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Eric Carpenter said most of the rain will probably not affect your morning activities.
“Things quite rapidly deteriorate Saturday evening, but the daytime isn’t looking right now like it’s gonna be too bad,” he said. “As you go through the afternoon you’ll definitely see increasing chances for showers.”
There’s the possibility for severe weather, he said. That’s Saturday evening and overnight, and mainly in southwest Mississippi.
“It doesn’t look like a major event, but it’s definitely something to keep an eye on.”
He said there is a possibility for tornadoes, especially along the Hwy. 84 corridor.
Rain was expected to stick around through Sunday and possibly Monday.
