MARION COUNTY, Miss.–Ten pounds of pot, wrapped up neatly and apparently ready to ship, were found by the Marion County Narcotics Task Force when they busted into a house with a search warrant this weekend. Police said there was also a gun and there were small kids in the house.
Booked on charges of having the pot stash and the 9 mm were James Murphy and Leatrice Weary. Deputies said the gun added more teeth to the drug charges.
In addition to the charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, Murphy was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Both were charged with felony child endangerment.
Deputies said they had been investigating the two for a while, but a good tip Friday led them back to the house with the search warrant.
