JACKSON, Miss. – They call it Ethical Thursday which is a movement intended to get awareness out to the Mississippi people.
The Mississippi Alliance of State Employees and other organizations joined together Thursday, Feb. 27 to make a stand for the people. Ethical Thursday is a movement to stand for people’s rights and to bring light to the issues legislators ignore.
“Get it together Mississippi, we are a movement, not a moment,” announced one advocate for people’s rights at the rally Thursday.
They touched on topics like education, healthcare, criminal justice system and workers’ rights.
The Mississippi Alliance of State Employees President, Brenda Scott said, “We’re trying to wake up Mississippians to vote for people who represent their best interest because right now knowledge is power and I think people are voting without really knowing what their elected officials stand for. They need to understand these are public services, they work for us!”
