JACKSON, Miss. – Rain, hail, and strait line winds came with last night’s weather. Today you are seeing some trees down across the state, one report from the Clark/Jasper County line. Wayne County saw some power outages, and there was some flooding in Southeast Mississippi, about 3-6 inches of rain fell there in a short amount of time.
“Different parts of the state had some sporadic wind damage reports with hail reports as well. The northern portion of the state, generally along and north of highway 82 probably had the most wind damage reports along with the pine belt area,” said National Weather Service Meteorologist Chad Entremont.
He also says there may have been Tornado in Jones County.
“We may have had a brief tornado touch down in southwest Jones County. We are going to have a team go across that area to survey that damage and determine if it was a tornado. “
