MYRICK, Miss.–The second floor above the Freedom Baptist Church’s gym in the activity building came crashing down Wednesday night during a youth meeting, said witnesses. About 35 people were hurt, but all were expected to live.
The church is in Myrick, in Jones County.
What caused the crash was not certain Wednesday night.
Sixteen people went to the hospital. WDAM reported one had to be airlifted to Forrest General in Hattiesburg for a head injury.
There were over 70 kids, junior high and high school-age, in the building when the crash happened. The floor fell about 12 feet.
