Mississippi State saw another Saturday pass with the Air Raid offense staying grounded, as the Bulldogs only managed 217 yards and one touchdown, as Texas A&M took home a 28-14 win over the home team. A&M scored two touchdowns on drives that begin inside the Bulldog 10, as Zach Arnett’s defense was tough yet again, but Mike Leach’s side of the ball was once again impotent.

State was shut out for the first three and a half quarters, with starting quarterback KJ Costello being relieved by true freshman Will Rogers after two turnovers and five sacks. State’s offensive line played poorly from start to finish, as the Bulldog quarterbacks were consistently flushed from the pocket, and the Bulldog running game was ineffective. Senior tailback Kylin Hill was suspended from today’s game, with Leach saying in postgame he had no comment about Hill’s future with the team. MSU didn’t get on the board until the third quarter, when true freshman Emmanuel Forbes picked off a pass via a wild deflection and ran it back 60 yards to cut the Aggie lead to 14-7.

A&M would score on the ensuing possession off a 52-yard touchdown pass from Kellen Mond to Chase Lane, then would scoop up a Costello fumble at the Bulldog 8 yard line. The Aggies would punch it in 2 plays later. Rogers would take over the Bulldog offense following that series, and would lead the Bulldogs on their only scoring drive of the day in the fourth quarter, a 13 play 89-yard march that culminated with Malik Heath catching a Rogers pass and running it in from 32 yards out for his first career touchdown.

MSU could do nothing more, and with the loss, falls to 1-3 on the season. Leach said in postgame the quarterback position will have to be evaluated as the Bulldogs are off until Halloween night when they’ll travel to play Alabama.
