While the latest information from the National Hurricane Center shows that Hurricane Delta has weakened from a Category 4 to a Category 2 storm as of this morning, it is still projected to make landfall as a “dangerous hurricane” Friday along the Gulf Coast.

“Hurricane Delta has made landfall along the Yucatan peninsula and has weakened to a category 2 hurricane. The forecast track keeps Delta on a northwesterly track through Wednesday night, before turning more northward then northeastward over the western Gulf. It is forecast to make landfall along the Louisiana coast late Friday as a dangerous hurricane. It could bring life-threatening storm surge, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall to portions of the area.” — NWS New Orleans.
In addition to the likely storm surges and rainfall on the coast, Delta’s path will also bring threats to the central part of the state.
As the storm system approaches, officials urge you you prepare ahead of time.
