Following a slight delay, the Mississippi State Department of Health is now reporting 823 new cases of COVID-19.
Today’s report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 85,939. With the confirmation of 23 additional deaths, 2,558 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.
Hospitalizations continued on their downward trend in today’s report from the MSDH.
Heading into Labor Day weekend, Governor Tate Reeves recently urged Mississippians to be cautious.
“We can’t give up the gains and the improvements that we’ve made over the last two months with Labor Day weekend coming before us. I’m asking every single one of you to be on your guard. We can make a difference if we commit to it and if we work together. We can continue to see declining numbers which will allow us to get back more towards normal,” Reeves said Wednesday.
You’re encouraged to avoid large gatherings and scale back celebrations along with continuing to wear a mask and practicing social distancing.
