JACKSON, Miss.–When it comes to keeping drugs out of your kids’ hands, you’d probably like someone in charge who you can trust. The Miss. Bureau of Narcotics believes they have that guy in charge now, until a permanent replacement for former head Marshall Fisher can be picked. Fisher left to work for the DEA in Mississippi.
Sam Owens is a 36-year veteran of the bureau and was picked Thursday by Dept. of Public Safety Commissioner Albert Santa Cruz.
Owens started with the MBN in January 1978. Since then, he has served as an agent, district captain, regional major, director of training, Special Operations commander, and deputy director.
He earned his Bachelor of Administration degree from the University of Alabama.
