JACKSON, Miss. — Be careful if you are renewing your driver’s license online.
There is a site out there that could waylay you. “It’s a sponsored site,” said Mississippi Better Business Bureau President and CEO John O’Hara. “So if you were to go to, say Google, and you search Mississippi drivers license, it ends up being the first thing that pops up.”
But the site, mississippidriverslicnese.org, has no connection with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, which issues drivers licenses. And if you are not careful O’Hara said, “you could end of purchasing a manual that tells you how to renew your license instead of actually renewing your license.”
O’Hara said the website looks official, but does have a disclaimer and tells you specifically what you are getting for your money. So to avoid being duped, his best advice is to take your time and read the small print carefully before clicking buy.
