The new total now stands at 3,793 , with 169 new positive coronavirus cases added from yesterday. These numbers were given by State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs at a press conference with the Governor.

As of today, Governor Tate Reeves has extended the shelter in place order for 7 more days. The original order was in effect starting Friday, April 3rd until Monday, April 27th. This order prevents gatherings of 10 or more people and limits travel to essential only.
Some changes were also made in the order. These changes will take effect Monday, April 20th at 8AM after the previous order expires and the new Executive Order is signed. These changes allow beaches and lakes to reopen as well we non-essential businesses (clothing stores, florists, gift shops) to open for drive-thru, curbside or delivery pick-up sales.
You are still allowed to go outside, walk your dog, take a drive, go to the grocery store, or go to a restaurant to pick up food.
As of now, all dining-in options at restaurants are closed due to the COVID-19.
The CDC also recommends you to wear a mask when you are out in public and keep a safe distance of 6 feet from other individuals.
Also, if you have been tested for COVID-19 and are waiting to get your test results back, please stay at home. The health department recommends you stay in a certain room in your home and to avoid contact with other family members as much as possible. These steps could possibly prevent the spread of the virus.
