Congressman Steven Palazzo is urging FEMA to provide more personal protective equipment to Mississippi.
Palazzo says he has spoken to FEMA Administrator, Pete Gaynor, and raised the concern that south Mississippi is not receiving adequate medical resources to help with COVID-19 response efforts.
Palazzo says, “With south Mississippi’s proximity to New Orleans, an area significantly affected by the coronavirus, I have great concern that distributing resources to hard-hit metropolitan areas without adequate consideration given to neighboring areas is inviting danger to our doorsteps and counterproductive to the Administration’s efforts to slow the spread.”
Palazzo continued by saying, “The virus does not know where one state ends and the next one begins, which is why I am urging the FEMA Administrator to take immediate steps to prioritize the distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) to areas nearest to the geographic centers of the most significant outbreaks.”
