Tate Reeves announced at a Press Conference at the War Memorial Museum in Jackson that he will keep Major General Janson Boyles as his Adjutant General of Mississippi.
Boyles was first appointed to the position in 2016 by the current Governor Phil Bryant.
This was the first appointed position Reeves has made since being elected as the next Governor of Mississippi, taking office in January of 2020.
Boyles has served as the leader of the Mississippi National Guard. He led the National Gaurd’s engineering response as deputy commander of the 168th Engineering Group after Hurrican Katrina destroyed south Mississippi in 2005.
Boyles has also served two deployments overseas. One in 2008 to Afganistan in support of Operations Enduring Freedom with the 168th Engineer Brigade as Deputy Commander. He was again deployed in 2015 to serve as Chief of Staff, Headquarters Kosovo Forces.
“It has been an honor to serve Mississippi as Adjutant General these last 3 years under Governor Bryant’s direction,” Boyles said. “And I look forward to continuing to serve these wonderful people who call this great state home.”
Governor-Elect Tate Reeves, a Republican, won the Gubernatorial race in November and will finish up his second term as the lieutenant governor. Reeves will be inaugurated on January 14th to succeed Phil Bryant as Governor.
