Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) has been unable to collect sufficient units of blood to fill hospital orders.
MBS typically sees a decline in donors during the summer months but this summer has been devastatingly hard on blood centers nationwide. They are nearly 2,000 units behind where they need to be to meet the needs of hospitals.
MBS is urging all donors to donate as soon as possible to help make sure blood is available to Mississippi patients.
Donors can visit the MBS website, utilize the free mobile app, or call 601-368-2673 to find a location or blood drive nearby TODAY.
