Former Ole Miss star and current Arizona Cardinal DT Robert Nkemdiche was arrested earlier this month for speeding and driving on a suspended license.
According to a press release from the Cardinals, the 2016 first-round pick was pulled over on June 6th for going 75 in a 45 mph zone. Multiple reports also indicate that police found a credit card holder that contained a trace amount of a white “powdery substance” but chose not to test it.
“We are aware of the June 6th incident involving Robert Nkemdiche,” the Cardinals said in a statement. “We have alerted the NFL office in accordance with the league’s personal conduct policy and will comment further when appropriate.”
Nkemdiche’s 5th-year option was recently declined, and he is set to become a free agent after the 2019 season. Time is running out for the former Rebel to shed his bust label as he has missed 21 games in three seasons and racked up just 44 tackles.
He may miss the start of the 2019 season as he continues to rehab a torn ACL that he suffered in December.
