Eight people are dead following a head-on collision in Kemper County.
Authorities say the two-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 16 near Scooba early Monday morning between a Penske truck traveling westbound and a passenger van which was traveling eastbound.
Eight of the fatalities were passengers in the van. The driver of the van was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the truck was not injured.
According to officials, the victims worked for an agricultural company and most were from Macon.
The names of the victims have not been released. The incident is being investigated by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
